Stage combat reflection

My Reflection:
In my performance fight I think I memorized the choreography plus the extra move but me and my partner needed to practice on the dialogue before the performance fight happened. When we first started we weren't sure of what too say so we tried to make up our own dialogue but it wasn't very effective since there wasn't any sort of cue to show that we could start our performance. When Maygol pushed me first I didn't know what to do next because I was supposed to be the who pushed her first so I had to just push her back and tried to adjust but the choreography kept on changing so I was speechless and didn't know what to do in the performance. We could have improved on practicing our dialogue before and after the fight. We could've have memorized the choreography with the extra sounds like the naps or grunts when its the punch to the stomach. This term the newest thing I learned was that stage combat is used in many movies to create the tension from the audience.

Stage Slap Reflection

Stage Slap Reflection:
When we were doing the slap we had to practice on how we should do the stages slowly so we wouldn't harm anyone. In stage combat we have to make sure that are three rules to follow to make sure that our stage combat goes successfully, Safety first, Safety last and Safety always. With these rules applied in stage combat, it will be easy to practice and perform stage combat. When I was learning the stage slap I found out that you need to do a few things to make it look successful,
  • Make sure that the person who slaps the other person needs to look at the same direction of the audience
  • The person's body needs be at least a meter away from the other person so it doesn't touch that person
  • When making a knap, the person who makes it needs to cover it up on the other person's body so the audience wont be able to see it
  • If a person was to stage slap someone, they should create tension in their arms and move their body a bit as well 
  • Marking the moment is a good way to mark when an action is going to take place by a specific dialogue or movement. 
When I was practicing with my partner Faris, I tried to follow the rules for a successful stage slap but unfortunately  I couldn't follow all the rules and tried to stage slap a bit too close to my partner. Next time I practice stage slap I need to focus on looking to the area where I am aiming to stage slap.I also need to keep some distance from me and my partner.

Reflection on melodrama unit

1- In this unit I felt like I have developed my skill of acting and performing because I'm not used to acting in front of people and I feel really shy doing so, but in this unit I feel like I'm more confident performing with people.

2- In this unit I think my greatest success was working together in the group to produce the silent melodrama movie, more specifically practicing my exaggeration with my group to make it look melodramatic.

3- Mostly each member had a role playing with the their melodramatic characters - Hero would save the day at the end of the story , the villain would come up with an evil plan and the maiden would be kidnapped by the villain.

4- Yes because usually films would exaggerate everything to make it look much better or different than in real life.

5- My melodramatic silent movie had a lot of exaggeration so it recieved some kind of attention if it was to be watched. My melodramatic movie wasn't as good since there wasn't a lot of exaggeration so the audience will just look at it and laugh .(Probably)

Production Meeting

Three Bad Pigs and the Reformed Wolf

Nasser: The Reformed Wolf = The Hero  
Ammaal: The lunatic pig = The henchman
Arthur:  Stern the practical pig = The Villain
Akshansh: Fiddle the mean pig= The henchman
Anishka: Whiskers the wolf pup= The maiden

Convention 1: 
The three pigs capture the Wolf Whiskers for revenge on Mr.Wolf
We will use it at the start of the play to create conflict between the hero and villain

Convention 2: 
The Mr.Wolf notices Whiskers is missing and follows the three pigs try and settle things with them in a civil way however he fails. 
We will use this next in the play to start the main fight between the hero and villain leading to rescue Whiskers.

Convention 3: 
Mr.Wolf has to fight the villain by breaking through the three houses,first the straw house than the wood house and ruses his way into the brick house to save Whiskers after scaring the three pigs.
We will use this at the end to have a final fight and end with the maiden being saved by Mr.wolf and the three pigs being defeated.

Costumes:
The pigs will wear a cloak to represent their evil ideals and to conceal their identities.
The Wolves will wear bright color clothes to represent their good ideals and to show people they are good people.

The props we will be using is Some sticks for the Mr.Wolf to scare away the the little pigs.

Peer assessment on silent movie

Omar's Group: save the princess, save the day. Adam, Riccardo, ward, Gunce and Omar.

I think Omar's group had substantial amount of exaggeration in their group but they need to add more Que cards and some of the characters didn't do as much acting as some of the main roles like hero who did the most acting and exaggeration and the henchman who only moved the damsels to the chair.

Nasser's Group: Birthday Surprise. Nasser, Arthur, Salma, Presha and Amaal. Zaid as filming man.
I think my group has done a lot of exaggeration in my group but I think that the sidekick hasn't done as much as acting as the the hero, villain or heroine.

Sireen's Group: Stralped to the rails. Sireeen, karim, Ibrahim, Harang and Maygol as filming girl.
I think their group did well in following the steps of melodrama and the plots but they haven't put that much exaggeration in their story and they haven't created as much as tension as melodrama should.

Faris's Group: Oliver Sudden . Faris, Maygol, Akshansh, and Anishka.
 I think Faris's Group did well in copying the plot of a melodrama story but they didn't too much exaggeration but I think they had a good funny ending. They had an adequate amount of exaggeration.

Sam's Group: How to find your maiden. Sam, Kiyara, Rania and Hyeonho.
Their group did a good amount of exaggeration but their plot wasn't easily recognizable and I liked how they did the slow running creating tension and making the story last a little bit longer. They had substantial amount of exxageration.

Bassel's Group: Bob and cooly try to save the day. Bassel, Monica, Jenna and Rathin.
Bassel's Group did a lot a lot of acting but they didn't focuse on making exaggeration and no one made slot of gestures with their face and body.

Train Track Terror

My Reflection:

In the play I was performing as the hero so I got to do one of the lead roles. I thing my acting in the play was pretty good but I needed to improve on saying my lines better because I was going to stammer a little because I didn't know what to say and when to say it. Overall I think that my performance well matched the description in the script. I think if the villain was wearing a cape she would look more mysterious and evil. If there was rope around the maiden to kind of make it look realistic. If I wore some sort of cowboy hat to make it obvious that people know me and that I can help. I think our performance could have been better if there were train noises getting louder and louder as it gets closer.

 The Villain 

The villain is usually thinking of plans to get rid of the hero so he could continue with his evil plans like trying to take over the world . The villain usually has an evil looking smile when he comes up with a really evil scheme.









The Aged parent

The aged parent doesn't do to many active things and instead would stay inside the house and do safe indoor things. The aged parent usually sits in a comfy chair/sofa and watches TV while holding their walking stick or putting it next to them.













The Hero

The hero mostly saves the damsel in distress/ the heroine from the villain and is appreciated by the people in the area. When  the villain is doing his evil scheme, the hero would jump to the rescue and surprise the villain in a really confident way.

DEBATABLE Must all stories have a happy ending? Will good always win against evil? How can the world become a better and more peaceful environment for all?

My Peer Reflections


How do composers write music that makes us think of certain characteristics?

Composers compose music particularly because it can change the emotions of humans and how we think of the music to enhance our experience about music. Composers can attract other humans with their music because music is nearly everywhere in the world, there is always a day where people hear music intentionally or unintentionally.  First the composers think of music even though  it's hard and then they just get stuck on trying to find a piece then just out of nowhere they create music because of something they are inspired by. That's how some composers create music.

My poster quotes

My Reflection: I think that this activity wasn't too hard to create it just a long time to create because I wanted it to be as creative as I could make it. For example When I was coloring the the letters I only colored one of the words red because it was to specify which was the most important word of the quote. I didn't actually make this quote so I had to write down the person who actually came up with it which was Paul Hindemith. I tried my best to research a proper and relevant quote to the topic of music. I made a green line around the poster so it could be seen from far.

Me, Myself and I pictures

This pictures represents me because I am really competitive in both indoor and outdoor games.
Ronaldo  represents me because he is my role model and I wish that I could see him one day to teach me.
This picture represents me because when I don't play individual games I play outdoor games like football or capture the flag I have to work together to win.
When I work indoors like school work or homework I usually shut everything out like music and make sure that I can't hear anything so I can focus on the work.
After I finish all that I just chill and remember to have as much fun as possible until tomorrow.

My peer evaluation

My Peer Evaluation

Riccardo's Group:
There group was about woodwind instruments and I think they did a good amount of effort but there aren't enough information and they need to include some pictures or at least a picture because they didn't put pictures at all so i think they deserve a 5 or a 6 because they  didn't hand the assignment on time.

My group researched the  untuned percussion family.I was responsible for researching and completing the first two slides of the power point, Faris was responsible for researching and completing the last two slides and Karim was responsible for making and editing the video.

  My Reflection:
I think that this project was easy because the information was easy to get and we had team members willing to help if anyone needed assistance.I wish what i could have done more research on the instruments and their types in general because most of my information was bout all the percussion instruments.
